Simvastatin

IU have taken this for some 10 years together with a very small blood pressure tablet. A side effect is a stiffening of joints. I suffer from arthritis, so it is a little difficult to say if these tablets effect my joints. No other side effects at all. 20mgs dose.
After taking Simvastatin for 2 weeks I started to have terrible nightmares and by 4 weeks was getting little sleep.
Reduced my cholesteral but caused muscle pain in arms and legs. I tried for a 6 week period but the muscle pain/deep ache didn't reduce. I also took Coenzyme Q10 at the same time as this reduces muscle issues with some people but didn't work with me.
Months of sleep disturbance due to leg cramps. Though inconclusive, coated tablets seemed to be main cause of problems.
It is difficult to say how effective this drug is, unless regular blood tests are done as a follow-up, which haven't been done in my case.
One side effect, for me, appears to be night leg cramps - the cramps certainly go away when I stop taking the statins and come back again after a few weeks back on them. I find the answer is to give myself a "statin break" when the cramps get bad, but I don't know if this would be a medical recommendation!
